MindTheClub is free to use for 30 days. The trial starts when you activate the app, not when you download it, so you do not lose days to an install you have not opened yet.
Nothing is charged during the trial and you are not asked for a payment method to begin. If you decide MindTheClub is not for you, do nothing and it simply stops.
After the trial

Prices are set per country and include local VAT where it applies. Google Play charges in your own currency and shows you the exact amount before you confirm.
Why there is a price at all
Free software still has to be paid for. The only question is who pays, and what they want in return.
In 2026 that stopped being a theoretical question. One well-known private messenger went into maintenance mode when its grant funding ended. Another is spending down the personal fortune of a single benefactor. A third, carried by a consulting firm since 2004, now says its five developers are no longer enough to keep calls and group chats reliable. The public money behind a generation of privacy tools is closing: the main US programme lost its grant in March 2025, and the main European one took its final applications in June 2026.
None of them is selling your data. That is not the point. The point is that every one of them depends on somebody who can change their mind.
MindTheClub has no servers holding your messages, which means there is no pile of data to mine, no profile to build and nothing to sell to anybody. That is the whole point of the design, and it is also why the usual way of paying for a messenger is closed to us.
So the subscription is the entire business model. You are the customer, not the inventory. No advertising, no trackers, no analytics on your behaviour, no selling anything to anyone, ever. A subscription grows with the people using it. A grant runs out on a date somebody else decides.
It costs money for the same reason it works: somebody has to pay, and we would rather it was you than anyone else.
What the subscription covers
- Unlimited direct peer-to-peer messaging, calls, photos, video and files.
- Group chats and group video calls.
- Encrypted backup and restore.
- Every feature in the app. There is no higher tier and nothing is held back.
Cancelling
The subscription is managed by Google Play, so you cancel it there, in Play’s subscription settings, at any time. It runs until the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew after that.
